Published by humans who actually live in both places.
Mocal News is a two-person (and growing) editorial project produced by the Morocco California Alliance — a bridge organization between California's technology sector and Morocco's rising talent pool.
What we commit to, on every dispatch.
Primary data, always
Every piece is anchored to official sources — HCP, Bank Al-Maghrib, World Bank, UN, municipal records. If it can't be cited, we don't print it.
Long-duration forces, not daily noise
We track urbanization curves, housing regime shifts, demographic inversion. Headlines are downstream of these currents — we try to stay upstream.
Unsentimental about Morocco
We love the Kingdom. We refuse to flatter it. Boosterism and declinism are equally lazy; the work is harder than either.
Transatlantic by design
Our perspective is shaped by California as much as Marrakech. We use the comparison deliberately — especially on tech, housing, and infrastructure.
Chraibi
Tech-sector veteran. Moroccan-American. UCLA alumnus.
Adam Chraibi is the founder of the Morocco California Alliance (MoCal Alliance) — a non-profit initiative connecting California's innovation economy with Moroccan entrepreneurs, universities, and engineers.
With roots in both the Californian technology sector and Morocco, Adam established the Alliance to foster a new generation of cross-continental entrepreneurship and technological advancement.
Mocal News serves as the Alliance's analytical arm — publishing data-driven research on Morocco's urbanization, housing, infrastructure, and demographic transformation.
